The RV renovation continues...
And so many little miscellaneous projects have been completed. Hooray! Over the past month or so we've made some real progress. Alex has reinstalled the ceiling throughout the living room and installed ceiling trim. He's fixed the floor in two areas where water damage had occurred and the floor was rotted. I'm pretty sure we'll eventually turn these into full posts of their own but for now I'm just excited that they're done and I can stop thinking about them for a while.
So Labor Day weekend, Alex finished installing the ceiling trim and then caulked his work. I finally removed the old window blinds. I'd been waiting on that simply because our RV is parked in the alley behind our house and I didn't want anyone walking by to be able to peek inside. Our neighborhood is great-we can walk to parks and bike to restaurants and downtown Indy, our neighbors are nice.. but it's also just a little sketchy...the kind of sketchy where you never leave things unlocked and you certainly wouldn't have uncovered windows on an RV that has miscellaneous power tools lying in it.
So anyway, the blinds came down and plastic went up. I decided to just scrap the blinds all together. They seemed like quality insulating blinds but they had so many rips and tears that I didn't see the point of reinstalling them. As I removed the blinds, I carefully covered the windows with plastic and painters tape. The first window took a little time but once my routine was down, it actually went pretty quickly. Well, I suppose that's relative. At first I thought I would get all the prep done in a day, now I realize the prep alone will take multiple nights and weekends and then painting will likely take just as long. But I finished the living area on Saturday and finished the bedroom on Sunday. I taped off windows and light fixtures and appliances and outlets. I also finally removed the gold light fixtures from the walls. Throwing them in the garage sale pile. Still so much more to do but it's feeling like progress!
